Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that students in the Persons with Disabilities (OKU) category will receive free education, as announced under the National Education Plan 2026–2035 on 20 January (Tuesday).

As previously reported, he said all OKU-category students at public higher education institutions (IPTA), as well as polytechnics and community colleges, will be granted free education with immediate effect.

Boy with Autism thanks PMX for announcement, calling it a gift of hope for OKU students

Following the announcement, an autistic student named Rajendrra Vharma expressed his appreciation to PMX, describing it as a source of hope and reassurance for students like him, as well as for families with children who have special needs.

In a video, Rajendrra, who is also an autistic artist recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR), shared words of encouragement with students with special needs, urging them not to give up and to keep believing in themselves.

“To my friends, don’t give up. Keep learning and believe in yourselves. I would also like to thank all parents, you are our greatest support. To teachers, thank you for guiding us with love and dedication,” he said.

“It shows that our future has a place in Malaysia’s future”

Rajendrra, a student in the Sentul Utama Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), said the move went beyond policy and reflected the Prime Minister’s compassion and concern for children with special needs.

He also thanked parents and teachers for their constant support and dedication.

“Free education is not just a policy, but a gift of hope. It shows that our future matters and that every child, regardless of their challenges, has a place in Malaysia’s future.

“With sincerity, I want to thank Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his kindness and care towards children with disabilities,” he said.
