We’ve all heard horror stories about hotels or homestays having hidden cameras, prompting many to scour their accommodations for signs of any recording devices before settling in.

Well, a Malaysian recently took to Facebook to share how he allegedly found a hidden camera inside the toilet of a hotel room where he was staying but was met with ridicule instead. This is because what he claimed to be a hidden camera is actually just an automatic bidet built into the toilet bowl.

A “camera” inside the toilet bowl

In the post on the Bintulu Community Facebook group on 3 April, the man shared 2 blurry photos of the toilet bowl with the built-in bidet circled out.

In the caption, he asserted,

“Damn hotel has a small camera inside the toilet bowl to spy on the anus. Just wait, I’ll make a report at the counter.”

“Please help make this go viral so that others can be more careful when staying at the hotel with their families ???”

However, the man didn’t mention the name or location of the hotel where the photos were taken at. As of the time of writing, the post has gone viral with over 436 shares and more than 749 reactions.

Furthermore, screenshots of the post have also been reposted by many public social media accounts, including this post on the LIpsckb Lawak Pengerindang Facebook group with over 11,000 reactions and more than 2,200 shares.

Malaysians unanimously said that it’s not a camera but a bidet to clean one’s bum!

In the comments section of the original post, many Malaysians pointed out to the man that what he circled out was not a hidden camera but a bidet meant to clean one’s anus.

One commenter said that the man should’ve checked 1st instead of blindly trying to go viral as such a bidet is commonly found in toilet bowls.

Meanwhile, another commenter jokingly asked the man to not wait long and go straight to the police station to lodge a report, sarcastically saying that many anuses have been recorded by the bidet.

Besides that, one Malaysian said that the man shouldn’t be so ignorant as if living under a rock in this modern age as his action in creating the post only embarrasses himself and makes him open to being sued by the hotel.
