Malaysian influencer and activist of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian mission, Muhammad Hareez Adzrami, widely known as Haroqs, came forward to apologise after throwing chocolates into the sea while participating in the aid mission to Gaza, an act that drew heavy public criticism.

In a post on Threads yesterday (18 May), Haroqs explained that his action was not intended to pollute the sea, but was instead done to ensure the aid reached the children in Gaza by whatever means possible.

Haroqs apologised for his actions

The activist wrote,

“I apologise if my act of throwing chocolates into the sea was impolite and polluted marine life. I realise I am not a very smart person; I just had no other choice but to get the chocolates to the children in Palestine.

“No matter how I do it, you may not be pleased. If it is only through this way that your eyes and minds are opened to speak up, it seems you have been waiting for me to make a mistake.”

In his Threads post, Hareez expressed that his only hope was that Allah would deliver the chocolates to the children in Palestine.

Earlier, a video showing Haroqs throwing several packets of chocolates into the sea while aboard the humanitarian mission ship went viral on social media, prompting various reactions from netizens.

Some defended his actions on the grounds of solidarity with the Palestinian people, while others described the act as inappropriate because it could pollute the sea and threaten marine life.

Haroqs is unreachable via phone

According to Buletin TV3, four Malaysians are reportedly still holding on and continuing the voyage in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission towards Gaza. The individuals are Haroqs and Chin (on board the Alcyone), Syed Amirul (on the Don Juan), and Dr Thanisah (on the Zefiro).

WORLD OF BUZZ has reached out to Haroqs for comment, but has yet to receive a response.
