Earlier, WORLD OF BUZZ reported that a Malaysian woman was assaulted and threatened with death by a fellow Malaysian travel agent, in an incident witnessed by her husband at a friend’s rented home in Japan on January 24.

She further claimed that the suspect became aggressive over her presence in a part of Tokyo he allegedly considered his own territory.

The suspect has been remanded for 4 days

The woman also revealed that her husband and a friend were assaulted by the same man during the incident. He allegedly took 75,000 yen (RM2,300) in cash from them and ordered them to return to Malaysia immediately.

In a recent update, the said travel agent was detained on suspicion of threatening the married couple and has since been remanded starting today (July 16) until July 19 to assist in the investigation.

According to Harian Metro, Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman has since confirmed the matter and said the remand application for the 36-year-old man was made this morning at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect and victim were reportedly acquainted

Norhizam also stated that the suspect was arrested at 5PM on July 15 at a restaurant in Sepang, following a police report lodged by the victim on January 28 after returning from Japan.

The suspect is believed to be an acquaintance of the victim through a travel agency.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was triggered by dissatisfaction over the management of a tour to Japan.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a punishment of imprisonment, a fine, or both.
