Motorcyclist Rides Against Traffic & Causes Death of a Ducati Rider, Now on PDRM’s Radar

Social media is in an uproar over the death of a 60-year-old Ducati motorcycle rider after he was involved in an accident caused by another motorcyclist who was riding in the opposite direction.

Videos of the incident has since been circulating online, showcasing the Ducati Panigale rider crashing and falling over the side of a bridge on the SUKE highway after he had tried to avoid the motorcyclist riding against traffic.

According to a report by Berita Harian, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are now in search of the motorcyclist, who they believe is the cause of the accident.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail shared that initial investigations found that the victim was riding his high-powered motorcycle around the bend of the road when he encountered the motorcyclist coming from straight at him from the opposite direction.

“The Ducati rider tried to avoid (the suspect) and hit the barrier on the left side of the road and was thrown from the overpass at a height of approximately 30 meters while his motorcycle dragged until the middle of the road.”

“The victim’s body was found lying behind the fence of the Sungai Kelang SMART Control Station,” he said.

He had sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

“The police are currently tracking the rider of the (suspect’s) motorcycle who left the scene. The closed-circuit camera (CCTV) footage has been identified and will be examined with the SUKE Highway department and independent witnesses to the incident are being tracked down to assist with the investigation,” he added.

He said the cause of the accident was the negligence of a motorcyclist, who has yet to be identified, who drove recklessly and caused the death of the victim.

Independent witnesses of this incident are requested to contact the Traffic Investigation Officer, Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters, Inspector Muhamad Yusaiful Muhamad Basir on 011-13078348.
