Earlier today, Miss Universe Malaysia’s official Instagram page announced that they will be debuting the gowns that will be worn at the highly-anticipated pageant next month.
Social media soon ran abuzz when this year’s Miss Universe Malaysia, Samantha Katie James, revealed the dress she would be wearing for the evening gown segment at the pageant next month, which will reportedly be held in Las Vegas, United States.
Aside from that, she also revealed what she would be wearing for the attention-grabbing National Costume segment, which quickly got loads of Malaysians on social media talking. Why, you ask? Well, because her costume is nasi lemak-themed, complete with banana leaves for wings!
The dress itself is pretty detailed, as close-up photos show the “sambal“, “cucumber” and “rice” are actually made up of shiny beads, and yes, it even has a “sunny side-up egg”, complete with fried “ikan bilis“!
Needless to say, the costume garnered a lot of attention from local social media users, and it seems like there are loads of mixed reactions.
What do you think of the nasi lemak dress that will be showcased at the pageant next month? Let us know in the comment section!
