Take note, motorcycle owners! If you like modifying your vehicle, especially Yamaha 15ZR or ‘Ysuku’ owners then make sure that you get proper permission for it otherwise the police will confiscate your beloved motorcycle.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy director Datuk Mohd Nadzri Hussain told Sinar Harian yesterday night (September 9) that they will be taking action against individuals who modify their motorcycles without permission as this was illegal. He said that the police will not hesitate to confiscate these vehicles.

It appears that the popular motorcycle Yamaha 15ZR or ‘Ysuku’ is one of the most popular bikes these days and the police are paying attention to these users as many of them are modifying their motorbikes. “Last time, motorcycles that were often modified were the Honda EX5 but now, it’s the Ysuku. This is dangerous because these users like to modify the speed and the motorcycle is not able to handle it,” Mohd Nadzri said.

He added that the police are aware of this trend and said that the Ysuku was already a very fast motorcycle. “Why is there a need to make it even faster? The consequences can be disastrous. For example, if a motorcycle is sold with the maximum speed of 110km/h, then don’t modify the engine to make its maximum speed go over 140km/h. This is clearly breaking the law and the motorcycle might not be able to handle this, which can lead to accidents,” he explained. Mohd Nadzri said that this trend was especially prevalent in youths and the police are monitoring this.

Meanwhile, the police had a separate operation that ended last night at the Duta Toll Plaza where they issued 1,384 summons to commercial vehicle drivers. 18 drivers aged between 30 to 40 years old were arrested for testing positive for drugs.

Warn your family and friends not to simply modify their motorcycles okay!
