What a horrible thing to happen!

According to the New Straits Times, a 28-year-old man from China recently admitted to killing 19 people, 2 of them being his own parents.

On September 28 2016, the man named Yang Qingpei reportedly murdered his parents after returning to his village in Yunnan because they refused to give him money.

Yang was reportedly a gambler according to the Independent, which led many to believe he racked up debts due to his frequent gambling.

After brutally murdering his parents with a pickaxe, he was paranoid that his neighbours would soon find out what he did and he would be locked up.

So, he decided to murder 17 of his neighbours, some of them children, in an attempt to cover up the murder, making sure there were no witnesses to his crime.

He then made a run for it to Yunnan’s provincial capital, Kunming.

However, his plan to lay low fell through and he was arrested in Kunming not long after that. After his arrest, Yang confessed to all 19 of the murders when he went on trial on Wednesday (19th July)

Although this was reportedly one of the worst mass killings in China, the news has for some reason been heavily censored by the media, despite the incident lacking a political motive.

As for now, Yang’s fate is yet to be decided. However, since he has now confessed, we can presume he will be facing some jail-time in the very near future.

Thank goodness he was caught. Who knows how much more damage he could have done!
