At this point, we all should be taking extra precautions…

Recently, pictures of a man at a vaccination centre in Langkawi wearing a face mask over what seemed to be a DIY snorkelling mask has gone viral on social media.

According to Harian Metro, the man is a foreigner who was at the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) Sports Complex on 25 May.

Langkawi District Health Officer, Dr Mansor Ismail told Harian Metro that there was indeed a man wearing the unique device when receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Yes, it is true that the foreign man was present to receive the vaccine injection at the Pusat Pemberian Vaksin (PPV) of the LADA Sports Complex two days ago (May 25).

It is understood that he received a call to receive the vaccine injection through the MySejahtera application,” he said.

Dr Mansor added that when the man arrived at the registration counter and received the injection, the man was dressed normally with a face mask.

“While in the monitoring session, he is believed to have brought out the device from the bag he was carrying before wearing it over his head, covering his face.

Based on what he told a health worker, the man did not suffer from any respiratory-related illness,” he said.

He said that his party was still unsure as to why the man would wear such a mask that it managed to attract so much attention.
