As commuters took to social media wondering what had happened to the LRT3 Shah Alam Line this morning (21 July), some speculated it was another technical fault. However, according to RapidKL, the delay wasn’t caused by a train malfunction.

The train suddenly stopped after a man was found trespassing onto the railway track. Following the incident, a video shows the man being confronted by RapidKL staff before angrily storming into the train.

Delay caused by trespasser on railway tracks

In a statement released this morning, RapidKL said the incident occurred at around 6.15 AM near Jalan Meru Station, where the suspect entered the track area, forcing the operator to suspend services between Jalan Meru and Jambatan Kota stations temporarily.

The disruption lasted for about 30 minutes as operations personnel and Auxiliary Police moved in to secure the area. The suspect was successfully detained and later handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further investigation before train services resumed after safety inspections were completed.

While no injuries were reported, the incident quickly became a talking point online. Social media users, including train users, expressed disbelief over the incident. One Threads user remarked,

“Why would you run on the railway tracks? This is why the train was delayed this morning.”

In the circulating video, the suspect seemed unhappy as the RapidKL staff confronted him before another train user attempted to calm him down.

Rapid KL has since apologised for the inconvenience and reiterated that railway tracks are strictly off-limits. Besides being an offence under the law, trespassing onto rail infrastructure creates significant safety risks, not only for the individual involved but also for passengers and railway personnel.

The operator also encouraged commuters to stay alert and immediately report any suspicious behaviour to station staff or Auxiliary Police.
