JUST IN: Lee Zii Jia Banned From International Tournaments For 2 Years
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has announced that the country’s top singles player, Lee Zii Jia, will not be registered for any tournaments under the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for two years, starting from 18 January 2022.
This comes after Zii Jia had tendered his resignation from the national team just a few days ago.
BAM’s Deputy President, Datuk Seri Jahaberdeen Mohamed shared the news in a press conference earlier, adding that Zii Jia will not be the only one.
Former national women’s singles badminton player, Goh Jin Wei who opted to join the KL Racket Club (KLRC), joins Zii Jia for the two year exile.
“If they are playing in tournaments, it requires the registration of BAM as the governing body in Malaysia.” he added.
