Lady Finger Smoothies & Condom Chewing Gum? These Brands Got Really Creative On April Fool’s Day

April fool’s day is probably the only day of the year where brands can get creative and come up with the most absurd pranks. This year’s April Fool’s, let’s take a look at some of the funniest ‘products’ from several brands in Malaysia, from lady finger smoothies to chewable condoms!

1. Daboba Malaysia

Daboba Malaysia, the famous milk tea chain is likely the first-ever brand to prank us during this year’s April Fool’s day. On 30 March, Daboba Malaysia’s official Facebook introduced the new “Daboba ladies finger smoothie”, which is an ice-blended okra drink topped with sambal belacan that will only be available on the 1st of April.

Funny thing is, you can see that some netizens actually fell for the prank, and were tagging their friends under the post’s comment section to get the “first 50 free ladies fingers drinks”.

2. FamilyMart Malaysia

Always in trend, FamilyMart Malaysia of course also took part in pranking us this year. Namely the explosion of rich, savoury and spicy goodness, the Vanilla Sofuto topped with chicken floss and chilli oil sauce is a limited edition and only available on the 1st of April!

Surprisingly, some of the netizens expressed interest that they would actually try it!

3. Starbucks Malaysia

Starbucks Malaysia’s April Fool’s drink sounds so plausible, not only that the drink itself looks delicious, but the description almost got us as well!

The All-New Durian Frappuccino is described as creamy yummy nectar to your lips, with chunks of durian flesh swirling in a pool of vanilla goodness, topped with a delicate drizzle of caramel sauce for an unforgettable fusion of flavours. However, Starbucks Malaysia has advised us that it is best enjoyed chilled, and in our dreams!

4. Durex Malaysia

To chew or not to chew? Durex Malaysia also had a hand in this year’s April Fool’s joke. The new ‘chewable’ condom is said to provide a better breath and sex experience.

The picture of the chewable condoms actually looks quite convincing!

5. Chagee Malaysia (Bawangchaji)

On 1 April 2022, Bawangchaji, a popular milk tea chain in Malaysia posted a statement on their official Facebook page, saying that the brand will officially come to an end.

“All good things must come to an end. Once again, thank you, everyone, for your unconditional love and support throughout these years,” it states. However, it was later revealed that the brand did not terminate its service, but rather changed its name and logo. The brand is now called CHAGEE, while its Chinese name “霸王茶姬” still remained the same.
