The Kota Bharu UMNO Youth Chief was left shocked upon discovering that the Kota Bharu Islamic City Council (MPKB-BRI) had allegedly hired someone to ‘guard’ a location that people have been using as an illegal dumpsite.

Taking to his TikTok account, Fikhran Hamshi, showcased how he met the guard to find out more about his job.

He wrote, “It’s weird, but it’s actually happening. Only in Kota Bharu. I support monitoring waste disposal everywhere, but not this way!”

In his video, Fikhran visited the guard as he sat across the road from the (now cleaned-up and taped-off) location where people were dumping their garbage irresponsibly. The location is NOT a designated rubbish collection area.

The man’s job, which sees him sitting under an umbrella across the road from the location from 8am until 4:30pm, is to prevent people from further dumping rubbish there.

“This Abe Wa has been guarding this area since March, he only received instructions to guard, watch and make sure no one dumps their rubbish in this area. He sits there from 8am until 4:30pm,” he added.

Many have since shared their opinions in regards to the man’s odd job

“Other local councils are using CCTVs. They, on the other hand, are using people. Maybe they’re helping the guy by giving him a job.”

“This idea is irrelevant. It’s better to install CCTVs, which can guard the place 24 hours a day.”

“A backwards idea, no comment.”

“It’s 2025 and there are still managements that think like this. This is why we should choose good leaders to manage administration.”

WORLD OF BUZZ has since reached out to MPKB-BRI for comment, but has yet to hear back.
