Those who are flying in from Sabah to other states no longer have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period if they test negative, says KKM.

Instead, these passengers will only have to take a swab test three days before they board their flight. KKM, also known as Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia, or the Ministry of Health (MOH) took to Twitter to announce that this ruling will effective starting tomorrow (25 November) for those travelling from the state.

However, the ministry emphasised that “if they test positive, or if they start displaying symptoms of the virus, these passengers will not be allowed to continue their journey out of Sabah. These patients will be immediately transferred to the hospital for isolation and treatment. Those who display symptoms will be re-examined.”

The ministry added that those who are allowed to continue their journey will undergo tests for fever, symptoms and Covid-19 detection screening. Checking-in via MySejahtera upon arrival at the entrance gate of Semenanjung, Sarawak and Labuan will also be made mandatory for these individuals.

“If they do not display symptoms of the virus and test negative for Covid-19, the individuals will not have to go through the 14-day quarantine period,” said Health Minister, Dato’ Sri Adham Baba in KKM’s tweet thread.

Earlier today, Keningau MP Jeffrey Kitingan was questioned by several opposition MPs whether he had completed his mandatory 14-day quarantine after returning from Sabah to attend Parliament.

Sabah may no longer be the state that is recording the highest number of cases but does that give us reason to let our guard down? Let us know what you think in the comments.
