With the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus discovered last November, returning to the pre-Covid norm seems to be something distant in the future. This means SOPs like wearing a mask outdoor and keeping a physical distance are still in effect to curb the spread of the virus.

Unfortunately, not everyone is on board with the SOPs as some people perceive them as something burdening and “extra”.

Recently, a netizen shared on his Twitter and revealed how his cousin who stays in Kansas, United States of America (USA) said that the country does not force its people to wear a mask and get vaccinated. He also put the blame on Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin for these fundamentals SOPs that we are still expected to adhere to.

His tweet was a reply to Khairy’s tweet about the new variant of the virus and the necessity of the booster shots.

And to this, the Health Minister casually replied to the man’s tweet with multiple articles that highlight the surging of Covid-19 in the US.

“Send my regards to your cousin in Kansas”, Khairy tweeted and wished him prosperous health, as well as being safe from the Covid-19 virus.

Stop being forceful, KJ!

Netizens have a lot to say about the tweets between the 2 parties and some actually agreed with the man who refused to mask up and take the booster jab.

“Enough with the troubles, with the booster, with MySejahtera. Pity the elderly who struggles with IT, especially if the children are distant. Do you expect the elderly to just stay home when their children are not with them?”

Kansas & Malaysia are different!

In the meantime, some netizens pointed out that it’s unfair to make a comparison between 2 countries that differ in terms of population density.

While the entire world is still at war with the pandemic, we would also like to remind everyone to keep following the rules to stop the virus from spreading. Truthfully, who doesn’t miss the pre-Covid life?
