As the number of cases continues to rise, especially in states like Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, the government has decided to speed up the process of vaccination for residents of the Klang Valley.

According to Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, together with the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), the Selangor government will be working on ‘Operation Surge Capacity’ for both states with the plan that all adults residing in these areas may receive their first dose by 1 August 2021.

Vaccination For Klselangor

Khairy also stated via his Twitter post, that this plan will be carried out with the increase of supplies and capacity. From a total population of 6.1 million adults in these states, 3.5 million were recorded to have received their first dose as of 15 July 2021.

With this new plan, the CITF aims to have 1.3 million receive their first dose of vaccination by 25 July, along with another 1.3 million adults by 1 August 2021.

He added that between 26 July and 1 August, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will be expected to administer a collective total of 272,000 doses per day.

This is certainly encouraging news considering the worrying Covid-19 cases and deaths that are being reported daily. Do ensure that you and your loved ones have been registered for the vaccine via the MySejahtera application to be eligible for your doses.
