King &Amp; Queen Reject Being Paid Royal Emoluments For 6 Months, Money Will Be Given To Fight Covid-19 - World Of Buzz 1

Our reigning King and Queen have just announced that they will not be accepting their royal emoluments for the next six months starting this March to aid the government in their funding to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, said that from the period of March to August, our Yang di-Pertuan Agong consented to not being paid in view of the current state our country is in from battling the viral outbreak.

“The royal consent also reflects the King’s concern and personality involving the latest development of the pandemic and the country’s financial situation,” said Ahmad, as reported by the Star.

Ahmad also noted that the decision was made to support the move made by PM Muhyiddin, ministers and deputy ministers who donated two months of their salaries to the fund designated to tackle the current Covid-19 situation.

On World Doctor’s Day yesterday(30th March), both His and Her Majesty expressed their gratitude to medical staff and frontliners who risk their lives everyday to treat infected patients.

We have the utmost respect for our country’s leaders and the sacrifices they’re making for Malaysians during this troubling time.
