The weather hasn’t been kind to us lately, with the scorching sun continuing to make us feel uncomfortable and constantly thirsty. It makes some elderly people even weaker, and thanks to the heatwave, a pair of senior citizens had to seek shelter under a tree by the road at Labis, Johor.

They parked their motorcycle nearby and the man had to lie on the ground due to extreme tiredness. His wife was seated next to him. The couple wanted to rest well to gain enough strength to continue their journey home. Little did they know, fate had something else for them when 2 kind police officers came to help.

The policemen were patrolling the area yesterday (11 May) around 3:50 pm when they encountered the tired pair, and sadly, both of them almost fainted due to the scorching weather.

“They were headed from Segamat to their home at Labis, but the weather was unbearable for them and made them too tired to carry on with their journey,” 1 of the officers said.

According to a Facebook post by Polis Daerah Segamat, the policemen decided to give the senior citizens a ride back home in their patrol car. Another officer helped by riding the couple’s motorcycle back home. Thanks to the kind Abang-Abang Polis, the elderly couple made it home safely.

It was definitely a wise decision for the elderly couple to rest at the roadside before continuing their journey. Who knows what could’ve happened if they insisted to ride their way home? The police said that despite being in good condition, the senior citizens need a lot of rest after the incident.

Senior citizens and kids need extra care

The weather is undoubtedly tough recently, with the temperatures going up to 37 degrees Celsius in the states in North Peninsula. Berita Harian reported that the hot weather is expected to last until August this year due to the monsoon transition.

That does not make things any better and more exciting for us, and this is when we need to give extra care to the senior citizens and kids at home, as reminded by the police in their Facebook post.
