Kelantan Exco: State Has Lowest Booster Uptake Due To Vaccine Misinformation By Certain Quarters

The Kelantan State Government claims that misinformation and fear-mongering by certain irresponsible quarters are one of the main reasons behind the state having the lowest Covid-19 booster dose uptake in Malaysia. The State’s Local Government, Housing and Health Committee chairman, Dr Izani Husin said that as of yesterday (18 March 2022), only 24.4% of Kelantan’s adult population has taken their booster shots.

Izani further said that the state’s residents have been deceived and misled by irresponsible quarters regarding the Covid-19 vaccine to the point that many within the state are scared to take the booster shot. In fact, Kelantan is still the state with the least people vaccinated against Covid-19 throughout Malaysia.

Dr Izani Husin asserted,

“Up until today, Kelantan has the lowest Covid-19 vaccine uptake despite Malaysia entering the endemic phase this April.”

The Kelantan State Exco pleads with the state’s residents to disregard the misinformation brought by these irresponsible quarters and take the Covid-19 booster shots immediately. This is to ensure that they won’t have any serious health effects should they be infected with Covid-19.

Furthermore, Izani also reminded residents to adhere with Covid-19 SOPs so as to curb the spread of the virus, especially since Malaysia will be entering the endemic phase this 1 April.
