Dogs are a man’s best friend… until they attack and severely injure you.

According to The Star, an 11-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after suffering severe facial injuries after being attacked by her neighbour’s dog.

In a statement from the Mersing district police chief Supt Cyril Edward Nuing, he said that she was playing at the neighbour’s house at around 7.30pm on Friday (27th June). It was believed that the incident happened when the chain holding the pitbull broke, and the dog attacked the victim.

“The Johor Veterinary Department is investigating and observing if the dog has any symptoms of any contagious diseases.

“The case is being investigated under Section 289 of the Penal Code,” he said.

It is understood that the pitbull has been the neighbour’s pet for the past five years.

Do be careful when handling or playing with dogs, everyone!
