By now, you would have probably heard that Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos was taken into police custody after he attended the Umno general assembly at Putra World Trade Centre on Saturday (9th December).

He was then remanded for two days while being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act due to allegedly threatening former de facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

He reportedly set a cut-out of the former minister on fire on Wednesday (6th December) and even allegedly said he would hunt Datuk Zaid Ibrahim down if the police did not arrest him for insulting the Sultan of Selangor.

Jamal Yunos has since been released from remand on 11th December, according to Free Malaysia Today.

He reportedly stated to the press, moments after being released, that the police allegedly denied his request for a mattress. This apparently caused him to suffer a swollen back that was so painful, he fainted.

“The magistrate (who ordered his remand) allowed me to have a mattress but until my release I didn’t get it. My lawyer last night tried to send a mattress to me but was disallowed, and I ended up sleeping on cement,” he told the daily.

“This morning, my back was swollen and I blacked out momentarily. The police wanted to send me to hospital but, since my remand ended today, I went straight to hospital on my own.”

Jamal Yunos also said that he has since gone to Ampang Puteri Hospital for treatment.

“My arrest has not crushed my spirit one bit. I will continue my protest tomorrow until Zaid is brought to justice. We don’t want any more insolent acts against the sultan in future,” he continued.

“Zaid is a stubborn person. We don’t want him to merely apologise, we want action taken against him. Is Zaid immune while action was taken against me? I don’t understand this.”
