The talents of our Malaysians are constantly being recognised and celebrated not even just locally but even internationally.

These talented set of Malaysians are dominating various industries and bagging awards for all their hardwork and talent.

Following his recent electrifying performance at the Peakstorm Festival, where he amped up the crowd right before Joji, Malaysian musician NAHSYK is set to release his debut single “LAKSHMANA” via the world-renowned Dutch dance music label: BARONG FAMILY owned by Yellow Claw.

It was stated that as he is the very first Malaysian signed to BARONG FAMILY, NAHSYK will embody his Asian culture in the upcoming release by using the Indian affluence in his elements combined with energetic dance music sounds.

The man behind the deck

In an interview with WORLD OF BUZZ, NAHSYK, whose real name is Erin Ernest, told us that him signing for BARONG FAMILY is a dream come true.

“I’ve always loved the sound the label has been pushing out since I was 17. Barong was real dream come true and I’ll promise to make Malaysia proud by putting out some good records with them.”

Erin told us that he had gotten into music when he was around 14 when he had come across a DJ software and was very intrigued by it.

“After a year of messing about with it and absolutely falling in love with the art form of DJ’ing I managed to buy a second hand DJ controller from cash converters after saving up from selling soya bean and yong tau fu at a bazaar,” he said.

Speaking about his set at Peakstorm Festival, Erin said that it was really special to him because it was his first opportunity to show the people where he came from what he can really do if he was just given a chance.

“I’m forever grateful for the love the fans and the organisers gave me to pull of a set I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

Future plans and words of wisdom

On his plans for the future, Erin told us that all he has on his mind is music, music and music.

“All I can do is keep trying my best to build something for my future and I promise I’ll always push to be the best I can. I’m proud of how far I’ve come all these years but I still have a long way to go to get to where I want to be,” he told us.

“I’m hyped for these 2 major festivals coming up though! Ill be playing for Waterverse Music Festival in Bangkok for Songkran on the 12th of April and Pinkfish Festival here in KL in Sunway Lagoon with DJ Snake along with Barong Family’s big bosses Yellow Claw on the 30th of April,” he shared.

When asked for his words of wisdom to the next generation of artists looking to make it big, Erin said, “Never doubt yourself. You will never know unless you try so keep pushing the best you can.

“I never came from much or had a lot growing up, but I always made the best out of what I had and you can too. Now go make yourself proud and create something beautiful for this world.”

Comgrats to Erin for being the first Malaysian to be signed to the Barong Family. We can’t wait to see the music he puts out in the future!
