A photo of a woman in Melaka recently went viral after she was seen riding her motorcycle with her three young children.

The 23-year-old mother said she works as a p-hailing food delivery rider to help her husband earn some extra income and support their family.

She earns around RM20 to RM30

Speaking to Malaysia Gazette, Noryani Syakira shared that on the days she works, she earns around RM20 to RM30, which helps cover her children’s daily needs.

“I have to bring my three kids along on my motorcycle while working because I want to help my husband earn some extra income. I just can’t bear to hear my sons, aged 10 months, two, and five, asking for things I can’t afford. On days I work, I usually make around RM20 to RM30,” she said.

She explained that the viral photo was actually taken two weeks ago, when she was delivering a fried rice order from Bukit Katil to Melaka Hospital for a RM5 delivery fee.

She added that she only works when the weather is good and avoids going out when it rains to keep her children safe.

“Some days I only make around RM20 or RM30, but I’m still grateful because at least it helps ease the guilt when my kids ask for things I can’t afford. It also helps my husband cover the basics for the kids, like diapers, milk, and our RM350 rent in Bukit Lintang.”

“I’m happy that I can still treat my children to snacks”

Noryani shared that her husband, who works at the workshop, earns about RM1,200 a month.

She said that even though she only makes around RM20 to RM30 a day between 7 AM and 12 PM, it’s enough to cover her family’s daily meals.

Despite having to take her kids everywhere, she’s happy knowing she can still treat them to snacks or small toys once in a while.

“I used to work as an assistant selling fried chicken, but it got too hard since I had to bring my kids with me. So, I decided to find my own way to earn a living. Every day after sending my eldest to kindergarten in Bukit Katil, I take my two younger boys with me on the motorcycle to deliver food until noon,” she said.

Anyone who wishes to help Noryani’s family can do so through her Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) account: 0299541000567835 (Noryani Syakira Yaakob).
