Purely educational

Consequently, Malaysians were puzzled and upset at the incident because they thought the livestream’s contents were rather neutral and non-provocative.

“Don’t stop educating yourself so that you can make an informed decision when the time comes for you to vote. I’m not here to tell you who to vote.”

Many who viewed the livestream claimed that Fahmi only touched on subject matter that are in the national History syllabus as well as in General Studies.

They found the knowledge shared very useful as it is relevant to Malaysians’ circumstances today of having to decide who to vote for in the upcoming general election.

As a first time voter, I learned a lot from his live that day,” said a user.

Speculations on the culprit

On the other hand, some netizens speculated on who could be the culprit behind the reporting of the livestream.

“Those who reported must not want the public to be educated before voting. Could it be the #undirosak gang?”

“There are some political parties that always benefit from the ignorance of the people. High political awareness means a loss of votes for them,” said another.
