What began as a pre-dawn house break-in at Taman Star took an unexpected turn after one of the alleged intruders died at the scene, not from injuries sustained during the incident, but from what authorities say was a blocked coronary artery.

According to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Perak, the incident unfolded at about 5 AM, when two suspects allegedly entered a house along Jalan Building Society through a window. Their presence was soon discovered, triggering a struggle with the homeowner.

One suspect fled; another pronounced dead at the scene

During the confrontation, one suspect managed to flee and remains at large. The second suspect, a 40-year-old local man, was found unconscious inside the residence. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial speculation pointed to the possibility that the man had succumbed to injuries during the altercation. However, a post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was a blocked coronary artery, indicating that the fatality was linked to a pre-existing heart condition rather than physical trauma.

Police have since classified the death as a Sudden Death Report (SDR). At the same time, the alleged break-in continues to be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon or dangerous means.

Perak Police Chief CP Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the matter is now under investigation to identify and arrest the second suspect who escaped during the incident.

In his official statement, Alwi urged members of the public with information related to the case to come forward. Witnesses or anyone with relevant information are encouraged to contact the Ipoh District Police Headquarters at 05-2451500 or visit the nearest police station.
