Resurfacing works along a 59-kilometre stretch of roads across Kuala Lumpur will be carried out in stages, covering several major and key routes.
In her Facebook Live session last night, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the works will be carried out between 10pm and 5am, with notices issued three days in advance.

Data shows that nearly 3 million vehicles enter Kuala Lumpur every day
According to Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) traffic data, nearly three million vehicles enter Kuala Lumpur every day, with more than one million of them entering the city during the morning peak alone.
To help accommodate the high traffic volume, Phase One of the resurfacing works will involve five projects worth RM61.64 million, with the entire phase expected to take 24 weeks:
- Sultan Iskandar Highway, from Jalan Damansara to Jalan Istana
- Syed Putra Roundabout to Mid Valley Megamall, in both directions
- Jalan Sultan Ismail, from the Jalan Kuching interchange to Jalan Imbi, as well as Jalan Ampang, from the Intermark interchange to Jalan Raja Chulan
- Highway entrance/exit lanes in front of the former airport, in both directions
- SPE Highway interchange to the Gateway, in both directions

“This entire Phase One will take about 24 weeks, covering five major roads that we’re carrying out extensive resurfacing works on. Today is also to give road users a heads-up that the works will begin soon and will be carried out from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
“The works will be carried out during off-peak hours when traffic is lighter, so there will not be any full road closures to avoid disrupting traffic,” Hannah Yeoh said.

Phase two will begin in September
Meanwhile, Phase Two will see three more projects carried out from September 2026, with each project also expected to take around 24 weeks to complete:
- Batu Caves Roundabout to the Jalan Sultan Ismail junction via Jalan Kuching and Jalan Kinabalu
- Kampung Pandan Roundabout to PJD Tower via Jalan Tun Razak
- Gateway to the Kuala Lumpur–Selangor border via the Kuala Lumpur–Seremban Highway
“The works will be carried out between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Notices will be issued three days in advance through DBKL’s channels, Waze, Google Maps, radio and electronic signboards,” the post read.
