Calling all fans of Fullmetal Alchemist! By now, you’ve probably heard of the pop-up exhibition which was first launched in Tokyo for this popular manga way back in 2017, kan? Well, good news for diehard Malaysian fans; this spectacular exhibition is now closer to our doorstep than ever!
Check out the international debut of the Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition in Pavilion Bukit Jalil KL from now until 24 March!
That’s right, FMA fans! This super hyped exhibition is finally taking place outside of Japan for the first time ever, and in Malaysia of all places too! If you’re wondering what’s in store for visitors, here’s what you can expect from the Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition!
1. Manga art and live-action prop displays for days
Manga fans will be in for a treat, as visitors can experience the adventures of the Elric brothers through the manga manuscripts and illustrations put on display in the exhibition’s 7 zones. With approximately 300 items which depict the creator Hiromu Arakawa’s artwork as well as insight into her inspirations for building the in-manga universe, fans can dive into the epic story of FMA as if they were reading the manga from start to finish all over again!
To add to the experience, the exhibition also displays props from the 2022 live-action adaptation of the manga. Said props include weapons, artefacts, costumes and even a life-sized replica of Alphonse Elric’s armour! Combine these props with Arakawa’s art displays, this exhibition feels like a whole museum for Fullmetal Alchemist!

2. A stamp-tastic adventure throughout the FMA universe

“What’s so special about Fullmetal Alchemist?”
For those of you who don’t know, this manga created by Hiromu Arakawa takes place in a world where alchemy is widely practised. Among them are the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, whose attempt to resurrect their deceased mother using alchemy backfired with the former losing his arm and leg and the latter losing his entire physical body and being forced to inhabit a suit of armour.
Years later, the brothers set out to find the Philosopher’s Stone, which they believe can be used to restore their bodies. Along the way, however, they uncover countless conspiracies involving the government, humanoid monsters known as Homunculi and even their own estranged father.
The Fullmetal Alchemist manga has sold 80 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga of all time.
