Segambut Dalam is probably not where most people would expect Mont Kiara’s next big hangout to pop up, but tucked away at 32 Jalan Kiara 3, Steppes has quietly emerged as the neighbourhood’s answer to The Campus Ampang. It is smaller and more laid back, but built around a similar idea: giving people a place to linger outdoors instead of herding them into yet another air-conditioned mall.

Opened to the public in June 2026, Steppes has already attracted a steady stream of visitors from both Mont Kiara and beyond. And while food is clearly a big part of the draw, Steppes is not simply another food destination.

More than just a place to eat

Jaya Grocer takes care of the grocery run, while Hank’s caters to those looking for meat and poultry. At one end of the development, Anytime Fitness keeps things moving with a 24-hour gym for anyone looking to work off their latest food haul.

The mix makes Steppes feel more like a neighbourhood hub than a conventional shopping complex, with enough variety to make it worth dropping by even when you are not specifically looking for somewhere to eat.

Residents in Segambut Dalam or around Mont Kiara can also sort out their everyday wellness needs at CARiNG Pharmacy, from supplements and personal care to skincare essentials.

For a little self-care, Good Luck Hair Salon offers hair spa treatments, while AcuPlus provides acupuncture services for those looking to unwind and recharge.

Something for every craving

  • Fujin: A pork-free ramen spot serving hearty bowls, including its rich Tori Paitan priced at RM32, comes in a generous bowl with a rich broth that manages to be satisfying without feeling too heavy. Prefer your noodles cold? Ebi Tsukemen comes with chewy noodles served alongside a shrimp-based dipping sauce, making it a refreshing alternative for Malaysia’s warmer days.
  • Fujisawa Izakaya: A casual Japanese spot serving the usual izakaya favourites, from skewers and sushi to easy-going bites made for sharing.
  • La Pané: A wood-fired bakery and pizzeria specialising in sourdough-based pizzas with a rustic, freshly baked feel.
  • Lama Nyonya: A spot for Peranakan favourites, bringing familiar Nyonya flavours to Steppes for those craving something comforting and local.
  • Uncle Sam Kopitiam: A casual kopitiam serving classic local fare, making it an easy stop for a traditional Malaysian breakfast or meal.
  • Steka Grill House: For something more substantial, Steka Grill House serves hearty steak and grill-focused dishes for meat lovers.
  • BASK: It is all about its signature Japanese-style burnt cheesecake, with a caramelised top and creamy centre. A simple pick for when you’re craving something sweet.

Soon to come at Steppes

A few more outlets are still under renovation and are expected to open in the coming months, giving you even more reasons to visit Steppes.

Among the upcoming spots are:

  • Udon Shiki: A Japanese restaurant specialising in udon dishes.
  • Teochew House: A spot serving Teochew-style cuisine and classic favourites.
  • Doudou Hillside: A sourdough bakery set to add another sweet stop to the lineup.

What to know before you go

Parking is fairly generous on weekdays, but things can get considerably more competitive on weekends, so it is worth giving yourself some extra time if you are visiting during peak hours.

The layout is also relatively easy to navigate, with ramps used instead of relying heavily on stairs. That makes it more convenient for visitors with strollers and wheelchair users.

Steppes is pet-friendly too, although furry companions are required to stay in a stroller or carrier. Individual outlets may also have their own rules, so it is worth checking before settling in with your four-legged friend.

Steppes opens daily from 8 AM to 10 PM, giving you plenty of time to swing by for breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply a coffee and a wander.
