From Burberry, to Prada, to Hermes, Malaysia’s prime minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is no stranger to the world of high-end fashion brands.

He has been photographed wearing luxury branded shirts so many times that he has gained a reputation for his controversial style.

One would think that with the immense backlash from netizens over the exorbitant prices of the fashion pieces, he would tone down on his drip.

But that did not happen. Recently, Ismail Sabri was spotted yet again sporting a shirt from a high-end brand. A photo of him was shared on Twitter by POLITICO.

It was a green shirt with a black and red ombre flames print from French luxury fashion house, Kenzo.

The Kenzo Casual Shirt in Sage Green retails for RM1,750, which is considerably cheap compared to other items he has previously worn.

Malaysians have mixed reactions

Consequently, netizens have commented on his fashion choice, with some taking the matter more lightheartedly than others who were almost defending him.

Those who were amused by the prime minister’s style made funny and sarcastic remarks such as “I thought it was Hotwheels“, “Father of Hypebeast” and “Wow Kyo kid“.

Whereas those who thought that the price of the shirt was reasonable for someone of his income accused netizens of blowing things out of proportion.

“The prime minister’s income is about RM30,000 a month. If he buys a shirt that costs a thousand plus, it’s more or less similar to you making RM3,000 and buying a shirt that costs a hundred plus. (i.e 3% of your income). That’s the logic.”

At this point, one may think that the prime minister is more inclined towards a job in the fashion industry than being the head of government!
