Depressed Covid-19 Patient In Sabah Seriously Injured After Jumping From Hospital’s 6th Floor

A man who is Covid-19 positive and also currently undergoing treatment for cancer reportedly jumped from the 6th floor of Kota Kinabalu Women and Child Hospital last night. However, he survived the fall but suffered serious injuries.

According to Kosmo!, the incident happened at approximately 8pm on 14 November (Saturday). The man, a 64-year-old patient receiving treatment at the hospital for the past few days jumped from the 6th floor of the and fell onto the roof that was on the 3rd floor.

Security officers rushed to the scene to rescue the victim

Kota Kinabalu Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji said that initial investigations found that the victim was placed at the hospital following his Covid-19 diagnosis in addition to suffering from cancer. Habibi commented,

“The victim is believed to be in a state of depression before resolving to jump from the 6th floor. However, investigations are still ongoing.” 

Firefighters rescued the man from the rooftop on the 3rd floor of the hospital and he is now being treated at the same hospital. 15 firefighters from the Kota Kinabalu Firefighter department was despatched to the location to rescue the victim.

We hope that the man would recover fully from his injuries and that he continue to be strong to battle the illnesses that he is facing. This just goes to show the importance of taking care of one’s mental health and hopefully, the victim will be getting the best assistance with his state of depression as well.
