Prior to the wedding day, we certainly have A LOT to brainstorm. From financial plan to decoration and outfit, the bride and groom have tons to think about to make their wedding day memorable.

A couple who recently got married in Melaka, however, did not have much to worry about, and they definitely did not have to worry about finances. The lovebirds spent less than RM1,000 on their wedding, and the event went on smoothly. The bride, Ashiekin, shared her “budget wedding” on her Twitter account recently and revealed the cost of the wedding.

  • Nikah ceremony in Melaka’s Religious Office, witness fees, & dowry – RM380
  • Henna – Rm55
  • Food for guests – RM200

With the wedding ring, the couple spent around RM800.

As the Religious Office has its own decorated wedding platform, the couple decided to take their wedding picture there by using only a smartphone camera to save on the cost of wedding photography, which can be a lot.

Things were made easier when Ashiekin’s in-laws decided to help with the cooking, and as for the bride herself, she took care of the cosmetic part by doing her own make-up and wearing clothes that she already has, instead of spending on a brand new wedding dress.

The guests were served white rice & asam pedas. Simple, but delicious!

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Ashiekin said that she was in a relationship with her man for a year and 4 months before they both tied the knot.

She is currently working a part-time job and her husband has his own full-time job. Why the budget wedding? Ashiekin has a simple & straightforward answer for that.

No financial burden after wedding

Ashiekin admitted that she doesn’t want financial burden after the wedding, which will make the couple’s lives tough.

“There are other things that we have to spend on after the wedding. Furniture, food, and more. We focused more on AFTER the wedding,” she said.

The bride, who is 25 years old received major praise for her budget wedding on social media, including some criticisms from netizens who think they should do better. However, Ashieken told WORLD OF BUZZ that she has never cared for what others have to say about her life.

“If it’s good for my partner and myself, I’ll carry on with it. It’s my life with him, so I’m doing this for us, and not for others.”

She added that she wants to avoid having multiple debts just because of a one day affair.

Well, who says a wedding day has to be all grand and lavish? For those who have always wanted to simple wedding, Ashiekin’s wedding event has proven that it can happen, as long as you strive for it. How do you picture your future wedding?
