Dressing up as our favourite superhero or anime characters seems to be a popular hobby in recent years, but did you know that it’s also a lucrative past-time? Yep, believe it or not, Japan’s number one cosplayer has earned up to 10 million yen (approx. RM377,000) in one day in 2018. Wow!

Nextshark shared that cosplayer Enako’s popularity has helped her earn a lot of money in a short amount of time. Her fame has also earned her the title “Japan’s number one cosplayer”.

Therefore, whenever she attends an event, you can bet that many fans will gather around her just to get their hands on her latest merchandise.

While she is fully capable of earning one million yen (RM37,700) from just one modelling gig, Enako actually generates most of her income by selling merchandise.

She usually sells her merchandise at the semi-annual Comiket convention in Tokyo. She revealed that 80 per cent of her income is generated from selling merchandise that she produces herself.

FYI, the semi-annual Comiket convention is the world’s largest independent manga fair in the whole world.

In 2018’s Summer Comiket, Enako shared that she earned at least 10 million yen in one day by mostly selling merchandise. Then, in December 2018, Enako earned 10 million yen again in one day during the Winter Comiket.

Enako reckoned that in a good year like 2018, she can earn up to 30 million yen (approx. RM1.13 million). That’s a lot of money!

Revealing her best-selling item, the Nagoya-born cosplayer said that most of the money came from selling her 76-page photo album, which costs 2,500 yen (approx. RM94) each.

On the other hand, she also sold a 50-page photo booklet for 2,000 yen (approx. RM75). Plus, Enako also sold a Comiket-exclusive set which includes both the aforementioned books, an additional 26-page Christmas photo book and an original bag, all for 6,000 yen (RM226).

We hope that she continues to excel in what she does best and hope her story has inspired some of you who are into cosplaying too!
