Traffic congestion is not something we all enjoy but at times we’re still bound to be stuck in it. What’s worse is the congestion that take place at the toll booths which sometimes delay our schedule.

Another traffic congestion took place at the Jalan Duta toll in KL on Monday morning (21 February) and it was initially believed to be related to RFID issues again. As shown in the picture, there is a long queue in both of the RFID lanes.

Not RFID issues this time

Last night (22 February), PLUS has clarified the situation via an official statement in their Facebook account.

It is revealed that the congestion in the Jalan Duta toll, which took place during peak hours at 8-8.59am was due to some drivers who had insufficient balance in their e-Wallet. This caused them to immediately reload their e-Wallet on the spot. The whole process had led to the heavy traffic at the location.

PLUS assured that their staff will help by guiding customers to park at a safer location that will not obstruct traffic. Additionally, they reminded road users to always ensure that there is sufficient balance in their e-Wallet and Touch N’ Go card prior to making their journey.

More RFID lanes, pls!

Some netizens are apparently unhappy despite the explanation by PLUS and suggested that more RFID lanes should be built.

In the meantime, other netizens say that Smart Tag & Touch N’ Go are still preferred over RFID.

“I prefer the traditional way, which is by using Smart Tag. I hope it stays.”

A netizen actually did not buy PLUS’s clarification and said that it is impossible for drivers to use RFID if they already know that they have insufficient balance.

If you’re an RFID user, have you ever encountered any problems? Would you have preferred using Smart Tag & Touch N’ Go instead?
