With the international borders now open and procedures for international travel made easier by the Malaysian government, now’s the perfect time for that trip overseas that you’ve been holding off on. Well, given that international travel was virtually non-existent for almost 2 years due to the pandemic, it’s a pretty good idea to refresh and check on the procedures that you have to take in order to cross the borders; whether that being the SOPs implemented by the Malaysian government or the SOPs on the destination you’re heading towards.

Another important thing Malaysian travellers need to check is whether they are actually allowed to cross the borders by the Immigration Department of Malaysia. In fact, the department actually reminded Malaysians yesterday to check whether they are blacklisted from exiting the country.

For illustration purposes.

Shared via the Immigration Department’s official Facebook page, Malaysians are reminded to always check on their Immigration control status before moving forward with any international travel plans. According to the department, there are two ways to go about checking your status, which is through Immigration kiosks as well as through its official online portal.

The Immigration Department has set up several Immigration Control Status kiosks at airports nationwide. These kiosks are located nearby airlines check-in counters within airports in Malaysia.

However, the second option is definitely the easier route, whereby you only have to visit the official Immigration Control Status web portal here. Afterwards, just enter your identification card number without the hyphen and click on check.

The system will then show whether you have any travel restrictions or you’re in the clear to go on your overseas trip. If the system tells you that you have a travel restriction in place, you can contact the Immigration Department here to check the reason behind the blacklist and hopefully, rectify it accordingly.

So, have you check your Immigration Control Status? Are you planning a trip overseas anytime soon? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
