An incident has come to light after a newlywed took to social media to share an experience from her wedding day that has since gone viral.

In a post on Threads, Anis (@ansyahira_) recounted how her necklace was stolen by the bridal assistant while she was helping her get ready for the ceremony.

Bridal assistant caught stealing bride’s necklace

According to Anis, the theft occurred while she was getting ready for her wedding. The bridal assistant offered to adjust her inner neck covering, claiming it looked “messy”.

She also shared videos that were accidentally captured by the wedding content creator, which appear to show the woman adjusting the neck covering. Anis claimed that this was when the woman removed the necklace from her neck.

“So in this room, there were only me, the makeup artist, the wedding content creator, and this thief. It all started when she said she wanted to fix my inner neck covering because she thought it looked messy, and it was bothering her. But if you look at the first video, it was already neatly tucked inside my outfit.

“You can see her slowly pulling the necklace from my neck. In this clip, she pulls it from the left side. There is another video showing her reaching into the right side of my neckline and pulling the necklace upwards (I can’t post it because it shows my neck). Honestly, I didn’t feel the necklace being pulled at all at the time.”

The woman admitted to her actions and offered to repay the amount in instalments

After receiving the videos from the wedding content creator, Anis said she immediately confronted the bridal assistant. However, the woman allegedly avoided her for months.

“For almost four months, I blamed myself for losing the necklace that my mum gave me as a wedding gift. She told me I should wear a necklace for my wedding. I was genuinely heartbroken,” Anis wrote.

In a separate post, Anis also shared screenshots of her confronting the woman and sending her the video evidence. The woman later admitted to taking the necklace.

The woman explained how her actions were out of desperation, while also expressing her remorse and feeling ashamed. She then offered to pay back what was owed to Anis, but through instalments due to her financial situation.

“I apologise, I admit that what I did was wrong. At the time, I was in a desperate situation, but I know that is not an excuse.

“I genuinely want to resolve this matter properly, ma’am. I will repay the amount in full, but I hope I can do so through instalments as my financial situation is currently quite tight. I hope we can discuss this and find the best way to settle the matter properly,” the woman said to Anis.

Following the confrontation, Anis went on to file a police report.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, she urged other brides to be extra careful when choosing people to assist them on their wedding day and to make sure they hire someone they can truly trust.

“Don’t just look for someone who can help, look for someone you trust. A bridal assistant should make you feel supported, comfortable and stress-free throughout your wedding day,” she said.
