The good-est girl! Not only are dogs adorably playful creatures, they’re also protective and compassionate by nature. We truly don’t deserve these pure creatures.

With the current fire crisis happening in Australia, many have grown concerned about the slowly depleting koala population. Recently, these heartwarming pictures of a baby koala snuggled up to a brave golden retriever in 2018 went viral again after a netizen reposted the story of this adorable golden retriever that was hailed a hero for saving an abandoned baby koala from freezing to death.

According to news.com.au, Kerry McKinnon, proud owner of the protective five-year-old golden retriever, Asha, said the helpless koala was likely separated from its mother during the night and wandered to their back porch in Strathdownie, western Victoria to seek refuge from the freezing cold.

The temperature usually plummets to below 5C in early hours of the morning. McKinnon said the baby koala “never would have made it through the night” if it hadn’t found comfort in the kind doggo’s warm fur.

She recalls the story of discovering the adorable sight:

“It was quite early in the morning, and my husband yelled out to me to come have a look at something. I didn’t know what he was talking about at first but then I saw this tiny koala snuggled on top of Asha.”

The precious pair looked extremely comfortable in each other’s presence,

“She kept looking back at the koala but she wasn’t trying to get him off her or anything. She was just happy to let him snuggle into her.”

The two had become so attached to each other that McKinnon admitted it “wasn’t easy” trying to separate them. The baby koala put up a “huge fuss” when she tried to remove him from Asha’s back. Aww!

“When we took the koala off to wrap it in a blanket, it hissed at me and carried on. I think it would’ve been happy to have just slept there all day.”

“Asha definitely saved the koala’s life by keeping him warm. He would’ve died out there if left alone all night. The poor thing could have been taken by a fox or something too.”

What a wholesome sight. What do you guys think about this?
