The ‘SIS’ series Special Registration Number (NPI) will be offered to the public in conjunction with the 80th Birthday Celebration of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, this coming December.

According to a report by Berita Harian, the offering of NPI with the index mark ‘SIS’, which means Sultan Idris Shah, is also in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee of His Highness’s reign.

“The Ministry of Transport, through the Road Transport Department (JPJ), will offer the ‘SIS’ NPI through online bidding via the JPJeBid System. The bidding for the ‘SIS’ NPI to the public will open on August 15 (Friday) and close at 10pm on August 19 (Tuesday), while the decision date is August 20 (Wednesday),”

“This bidding method is subject to the existing terms and conditions set through the JPJeBid System. The bid price is according to the minimum price set by JPJ,” the Selangor Royal Office shared.

Some of the proceeds will go to charity

They further explained that part of the proceeds from the NPI sale will be channelled to a foundation under the patronage of the Sultan of Selangor, which will be used for charitable activities.

Among them are scholarships and emergency funds to assist those in need, such as victims of natural disasters.

“The foundation will be chaired by the Selangor Royal Council Member, who is also the former Governor of Bank Negara, Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, and will be managed subject to transparent procedures and governance,”

“For the record, JPJ will be the only entity managing the sale of this NPI and no third party will be involved in the related process,” they added.
