The trial involving the abused down syndrome girl, Bella, and the alleged abuser, Siti Bainun, continues today.

While Malaysians patiently wait for the final verdict on the case, Rina Harun has a friendly reminder to those who are keeping tabs on the case.

“Respect the court proceeding and stop sharing inaccurate news about this matter”, she said in a Facebook post.

In her Facebook post this morning (30 May), the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development said that she has been keeping tabs on this case as the officers from the Community Development Department (JKM) who have been attending the court proceedings would update her through reports.

“I hope this case will be tried fairly and witnesses will testify honestly so that justice will be served”, Rina added.

Bella is doing well

In the meantime, Rina Harun assured the people that the abused victim and her friends are doing well and she is currently recovering by undergoing counselling at the Children’s Institution which is under the supervision of JKM.

She also said that she always monitors the well being of Bella and ensures that the JKM provides her psychosocial support to regain her spirit and happiness.

A couple of months back, the trial involving Bella & Siti Bainun gained the nation’s attention when Siti Bainun, the alleged abuser who is reportedly jobless at the moment is able to hire a group of lawyers to defend her.

TMJ then immediately stepped in & provided his lawyer services to help Bella for free.

Regardless, we hope that justice for Bella will be served and that no children in the future will have to suffer the same fate.
