A Form 3 student was stabbed by a teenage girl at a school in Banting yesterday (6 July), leaving her with multiple injuries, including damage to her left lung.
The incident quickly went viral after a video showed students fleeing the school grounds in panic while the suspect was seen walking around holding a knife.
Suspect involved in Banting stabbing case confirmed to be an OKU
Following the incident, the Selangor State Education Department (JPN) confirmed that the 15-year-old suspect had been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
According to a recent report by Berita Harian, the suspect has since been remanded for four days, beginning today (7 July), after Magistrate Maslinda Selamat granted the order at the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Langat.
Meanwhile, Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan (YBGK) lawyer S. Vijeswari Devi revealed that her client is a person with disabilities (OKU) and is autistic.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said police will continue to investigate the suspect, including reviewing all statements and evidence gathered so far.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code
The victim allegedly knew the suspect
Previously, we reported that the victim’s father believed his daughter was not the intended target.
He claimed she suffered around 14 stab wounds, mostly to her back, as well as injuries to her face and head. He also said his daughter knew the 15-year-old suspect, as they had been classmates last year.
