Bandar Kuching MP Tests Positive For Covid-19 & Is In Quarantine At Sarawak General Hospital

Sarawak saw its parliament member of Bandar Kuching test positive for Covid-19 on Monday (16th of March 2020). According to Berita Awani, Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen was verified positive for Covid-19 based on test results from Sarawak’s Genral Hospital.

Dr Kelvin took to his official Facebook page to further shed light on his current predicament. According to his Facebook post, he had contact with fellow Sarikei parliament member, Wong Ling Biu on the 2nd of March 2020. However, upon discovering that Wong was tested positive for Covid-19 on the 14th of March, he immediately put himself in self quarantine and got himself tested on the 15th of March.

Alongside with Dr Kelvin, Chong Chieng Jen (Stampin’s parliament member) was also went in for testing. But, Chong tested negative for the presence of Coronavirus. Prior to being tested positive for Covid-19, Dr Kelvin claims that he had not shown any symptoms of the Coronavirus infections in the past 14 days.

Currently, Dr Kevin is under quarantine at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further monitoring based on the standard procedures set by the Ministry of Health.

Through his Facebook, Dr Kelvin advised those who came in contact with him to not panic and seek medical attention immediately. He further recommended everyone follow the standard procedure consisting of social distancing, home quarantine if possible, postponing or avoiding trips and maintenance of good personal hygiene.
