“Whether I get married or not, ask me again on 30 June.”

That was Syed Saddiq’s lighthearted response when asked about his future with Bella Astillah if the Federal Court’s final verdict in his criminal case does not go in his favour.

“I’m calm because I have done nothing wrong”

With the long-awaited decision just days away, the Muar Member of Parliament (MP) said he prefers not to speculate on different outcomes and would rather wait for the court’s ruling.

“It’s difficult for me to comment on what might happen. Let’s wait for the decision. But place your trust in Allah. If you know you’re on the side of truth, InshaAllah (God willing), everything will turn out well.”

After almost seven years of legal proceedings involving charges of criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of property, and money laundering linked to Armada funds, the 33-year-old said he feels calm because he believes he has done nothing wrong.

“I’ve never delayed this case. I’ve never asked for it to be thrown out. I’ve never tried to use political channels, even though I could have.

“I want young people to know that when you’re faced with challenges, don’t be afraid. Stand by your principles, uphold your dignity, and always speak the truth.”

Bella’s presence has been a source of joy and strength

According to Kosmo!, during a Solat Hajat (special prayer) gathering attended by around 300 family members, friends, and supporters, Saddiq admitted he was deeply touched by the overwhelming support he has received throughout his legal battle.

Bella Astillah, however, was unable to attend due to work commitments. Despite her absence, he said she and her children have been a constant source of joy, peace, and strength during one of the most difficult periods of his life.

“Bella and her children bring me happiness, comfort, and extraordinary peace, even when emotions feel like a raging storm. If everything goes well this Tuesday, it will also be because of their prayers.”

He concluded by thanking everyone who has supported him, both in person and online.

“Without your prayers, I may not have been as strong as I am today. Your prayers mean everything to me.”
