His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, is a serious man. A viral video of him sharing much-needed input with a flight attendant not long ago showed how protocol is expected when he is around.

Well, that’s not always the case in this video.

During yesterday’s investiture ceremony, which conferred awards, medals, and honours in conjunction with the King’s official birthday, one of his recipients, a person with a rather huge belly, was poked by the Agong. This caused his assistant to almost break protocol, stifling his laughter.

Surely a showcase of our Agong’s much lighter side, netizens appreciated the warm gesture in the comments section of this TikTok video.

“The Melaka Chief Minister must be worried the next time he meets the Agong.”

One user commented, “He must have asked, how many months along are you?”

“He is serious when he needs to be, but usually he is a light-hearted kind of person,” said another.

Let’s hope that more light-hearted actions like this will soon make their way onto social media.
