A Bottle a Day Keeps the Blues Away: How VITAGEN Improves Mental Health

Remember that old saying, “Trust your gut feeling”? It turns out, it’s more than just an idiom.

A nationwide survey has revealed that Kuala Lumpur, in particular, has reported a higher prevalence of mental health issues. With mental health disorders on the rise in Malaysia, we’re realizing that our gut may have a bigger influence on our mental well-being than we previously imagined.

Recent scientific evidence highlights a fascinating relationship between our gut and brain, known as the Gut-Brain Axis. In simpler terms, it means that what goes into your stomach affects not only your physical health but also your mental health.

VITAGEN, the Gut Health Expert with a legacy spanning over 45 years, steps in with a solution. With clinically proven results to boost immunity and improve mood, it’s not just any probiotic drink; it’s a practical choice for supporting your overall well-being.

The Science Behind the Sip

A recent clinical trial research conducted by the GUT research group, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, took a closer look at how lactobacillus-containing cultured milk affects mood. The study included irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) patients with subthreshold depression who consumed two bottles of VITAGEN daily for 12 weeks. The findings were nothing short of interesting:

• Almost 47% increase in serotonin levels
• A reduction of almost 42% in depression scores
• A 7.1% increase in quality of life scores
• 42.1% reduction in IBS symptoms (severity, bowel habit, and abdominal pain)

Meet Serotonin: The Happy Hormone You Didn’t Know You Had

We often hear the term ‘happy hormones,’ but what exactly are they? These include dopamine, oxytocin, endorphins, and, yes, serotonin. These hormones orchestrate your mood, feelings, and overall well-being.

But did you know that about 90% of serotonin is produced in your gut? Contrary to popular belief, only 10% of serotonin is produced in your brain. This hormone is made from tryptophan, an essential amino acid that you can only obtain from the food you eat.

Serotonin has a big impact on how we feel and behave in social situations, how we eat and digest, and even how well we sleep. Low levels are often associated with depression and anxiety disorders. So, when VITAGEN claims to increase serotonin levels, it’s quite literally lifting your spirits from the gut up!
