8 Police Officers Dead, 3 Seriously Injured in Crash Involving PDRM FRU Truck & Stone-Laden Lorry in Perak

Eight people were reported dead while three were seriously injured in an accident involving a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) lorry and a stone-laden lorry on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam in Teluk Intan today (May 13).

Hilir Perak Police Chief ACP Dr. Bakri Zainal Abidin confirmed the report when contacted by BERNAMA.

Bakri said that based on the latest report, eight people have died, three are seriously injured, and seven others had minor injuries. He also mentioned that an official statement is on the way.

Meanwhile, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) representative Sayani Saidon said they received an emergency call at 8:45 AM, after which a team from the Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene about eight kilometres away.

“The accident involved an FRU police lorry that collided with a lorry carrying stones. Two victims were trapped inside the FRU lorry. Rescue operations are currently underway. We will provide further updates from time to time,” she said.

According to Harian Metro, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that PDRM will ensure the families of all Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members who died in the road accident receive the necessary support.
