A 77-year-old man was arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) after allegedly committing arson at his neighbour’s home in Pahang.
Videos of the incident have since circulated on social media, showing the elderly man walking towards his neighbour’s home before placing what appeared to be a newspaper at the entrance and setting it on fire.

In the video, the man could also be seen holding a bottle containing what was believed to be a flammable liquid. He quickly left the scene as the fire began to spread.
Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron confirmed to Sin Chew Daily that the incident took place on 14 August at the Sri Kemuning Flats in Temerloh.
It was also reported that the man’s actions may have stemmed from his frustration over his neighbour’s long-standing habit of playing the radio at a high volume.

Mohd Nasyim added that the fire was extinguished in time, with no injuries or casualties reported.
PDRM later launched an investigation after receiving a report and arrested the elderly man to assist with the probe. The man, who has existing health issues, has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.
