According to a Malaysian doctor, the risk of contracting HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) during sexual intercourse between men is up to 18 times higher.

Following the raid at a “men-only” spa in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, where 202 individuals were arrested, a Malaysian doctor and content creator has taken to social media to remind Malaysians about the consequences of engaging in homosexual activities, particularly between men.

Dr Samhan not only mentions HIV, but also other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) that men can contract from engaging in anal penetration. He explained that anal penetration carries an 18-times higher risk of HIV transmission compared to vaginal intercourse.

It causes more injuries due to the rupture of blood vessels

The anus is an area of the body with a higher density of blood vessels compared to the female reproductive organ, which is the vagina.

“In simple terms, we can understand this through the condition known as hemorrhoids, which is the swelling of blood vessels that occurs in the anus but not in the vagina, even though both organs are located in the lower part of the body.”

“The anus also has a thinner wall that separates the skin from the blood vessels.”

Dr Samhan explained that anal penetration by a penis during homosexual intercourse results in more injuries due to the rupture of blood vessels, which allows HIV to enter through.

Another reminder to Muslims

In his Threads post, Dr Samhan also mentioned that there are reasons why a homosexual relationship is forbidden in Islam, especially any practice that goes against natural disposition, which is forbidden by the religion.

“Allah’s prohibitions are related to anatomy and physiology, which always follow the divine order.”

HIV currently has no cure, and if left untreated, the virus can progress to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). However, contracting HIV is not a death sentence.

The treatment of HIV with medicines is called antiretroviral therapy (ART). It involves taking a combination of medications every day, which can allow people with HIV to live a healthier life and help reduce the risk of spreading the virus to others, according to Medline Plus.

As for those arrested, the police said all local men have been released on bail after none of them declared themselves victims.
