A physical fight at a Kopitiam in Taiping, Perak, ended with the death of an innocent 15-year-old boy.

In a viral CCTV footage of the Kopitiam, which has since been removed from social media, one of the customers was seen physically attacking an employee of the Kopitiam. The 15-year-old, who was often there and also the son of the Kopitiam’s owner, had to witness the brawl.

Unfortunately, he later collapsed and passed away due to extreme shock.

The incident took place on Monday night (January 13) at around 11pm, when the customer requested a tissue from the foreign employee. The latter then brought the customer a pack of tissues and told him the price.

Shockingly, the customer slapped the employee before the fight ensued, causing the scene to be chaotic as others tried to stop the fight.

The owner’s teenage son was at the scene and he was anxious. According to Guang Ming Daily News, he fainted and collapsed after the fight stopped. The public carried him up, put him on a chair, and tried to wake him up, but the teenager did not respond.

His father then sent him to the hospital but to no avail. He was pronounced dead by the medical officers.

The teenager’s family members said he was hardworking and often helped out at the Kopitiam when he could. Taiping district’s Chief Police said there was no criminal element in the teenager’s death, which has been classified as sudden death.

As for the physical fight between the customer and the employee of the Kopitiam, PDRM said they have launched an investigation to understand the matter further. In another report by China Press, it was revealed that the Kopitiam will be closed for 7 days following the death of the owner’s son.

The teenager’s body has been retrieved from the hospital and his funeral will be held on Thursday (January 16).
