Even though vaccinations are a priority, there are many factors as to why a person might not be able to get receive their vaccines. One of the biggest obstacles is allocating transport to vaccination centres. In order to solve that problem, there are now trucks that serve as mobile vaccination centres.

In a tweet by JKJAV on 7 June, 1,000 residents of the People’s Housing Programme in Kampung Muhibbah have been vaccinated all thanks to the allocation of a vaccination truck.

According to a report by Berita Harian, the Minister of Federal Territories Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that the majority of those who got vaccinated that day are the elderly and people with disabilities.

“This is a proactive way to quicken the pace of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme while also speeding up the process of bringing the vaccine to the people.”

The minister also said that it can help to curb the spread of Covid-19 among denser areas such as in areas where the People’s Housing Programme exist.

“We estimate that after approval, there will be 10 vaccination trucks on 15 June and by July, we will be able to have 39 trucks moving simultaneously.”

The minister elaborated and said that under this system, the vaccination capacity can be quickened by up to 15,000 to 20,000 jabs per day in the Federal Territories.

This is certainly a very good effort to bring vaccines to those who can’t reach them! We certainly hope that other states will be emulating this so that herd immunity will be reached in the near future.
