Recently, 15-year-old actress Puteri Balqis went on a podcast by local YouTube channel Bros Gang TV where she shared that she and her mother were sexually abused by her father when she was younger.

Her revelation sparked debate with some Malaysians condemning her for outing her father’s bad behaviour. On the other hand, some Malaysians expressed their support for her and the horrible experiences that she had to face in the past.

Since the podcast, Balqis’ father has lodged a police report against her whilst she has done the same back to him.

In the podcast, the 2 hosts had asked Puteri Balqis if she had any ‘f*ck*d up’ experiences from her childhood, and this has also sparked outrage as the hosts were criticising for ‘forcing’ her to talk about and expose her trauma.

In an interview with Harian Metro, the YouTube channel, explained that he did not force the teenage actor to talk about her life experiences until the video went viral.

They said that the actress herself was the one who wanted to share her story.

They had commented on the issue after an article by Harian Metro titled ‘The YouTuber who exploited the teenage actress needs to be investigated’.

The article was reporting the statement of the President of the Malaysian Child Welfare Council, Datuk Dr Raj Karim, who described the act of posting the video as a form of sexual exploitation and that relevant parties should be taken action.

According to Raj, the YouTube channel in question does not have the right to broadcast the revelation of the teenager because the actions allegedly committed by the actor’s father are a form of crime.

Commenting on the statement, Bros Gang TV informed that the revelation of the teenage actress was beyond his expectations.

Bros Gang TV also confirmed that it had obtained permission and consent from the actress involved before uploading the video.

They also refuted the allegations of parties who said that the sharing of videos on YouTube involving the actress was in order to chase more views.
