Malaysia seems to have a “correct” dress code for everything. From not being able to wear tight clothes to even having a “correct” attire for when you get your vaccinations.

In a similar instance, a woman has recently alleged that her Medical Certificate (MC) was rejected by her workplace after they had noticed her wearing a “slutty” dress as she had gone in to the doctors to get herself checked.

The woman who has chosen to remain anonymous, detailed her experience on Twitter. She wrote, “So my MC got rejected from my hospital because I went to emergency department wearing a dress and the HEAD sister there said that it was too slutty for me to be sick, and she said I’m pretending to be sick to take MC.”

She also revealed that she’s a nurse working in a private hospital in Penang.

How it all happened

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the woman explained that it all started as she went out for dinner on New Year’s Eve with her friends. Sometime in the early hours of 1 January 2022, she started feeling really sick and vomited six times.

“I was meant to be working at 6:30am on 1 January. However after I had vomited, I felt really weak and decided to go to the hospital in order to get myself checked, and get a MC for my shift which was in a few hours.”

The woman explained that as she is working as a nurse at a private hospital, she is only able to get a MC from one of the doctors at that hospital.

“So my friend drove me to the hospital in the early hours to the hospital. When I was there the doctor told me that they were only going to give me medicine. I then asked if I could get a MC to which the doctor said there’s no need as I have been given medicine,” she added.

She then asked to speak to the head sister as she felt that she really was not able to go to work in a few hours. The head sister responded with,” if the doctor hasn’t given you MC then what to do.”

The head sister then told her that she can try to come again in the morning before her shift to get the MC. She eventually went back to hospital at 9:00am after her shift was supposed to start to meet a different doctor who eventually gave her a MC slip.

Rejection of MC due to dress

After she had submitted her MC and gone back home, she then received a call in the evening from one of her friends who informed her that her MC was rejected. The friend went on to inform her that the head sister told another head to reject her MC as when she had previously come, she was wearing a dress that was “too sexy”.

“I was wearing the dress as we had gone straight to the hospital after dinner and didn’t have time to go back to get changed. The dress wasn’t even that revealing as it wasn’t too short and it wasn’t even exposing much of the chest area.”

“They said that it wasn’t an appropriate thing to wear to go get a MC,” she added.
